Quick checks
- Use desktop Chrome and open a public post on
https://www.reddit.com/r/…/comments/…. - Wait until the original post and the comments you need are visible.
- Click the Threadshot icon once, then choose the post and comments.
- If Reddit changed posts without a full reload, close Threadshot and open it again.
- If export stops at the height limit, select fewer comments. Threadshot never crops silently.
Supported features
- The current desktop experience on
www.reddit.com - Public post pages with content already loaded in the tab
- Text posts, comments, common rich text, and a standard post image
- Light or dark 1080px PNGs up to 28,000px tall
- Attributed or deliberately anonymized author labels
Not currently supported
Threadshot does not automatically expand “more replies” and does not support old.reddit.com, mobile pages, videos, galleries, polls, GIFs, third-party embeds, or special restricted-community flows.
If Threadshot cannot read a post
The error panel includes a compact diagnostic value. It contains an error code, whether a post element was found, the count of loaded comment elements, and the Threadshot version. It does not include the post text, author names, the page URL, or your browsing history.
Use Copy diagnostics when requesting help. Include the copied value and your Chrome version. A screenshot of the error can also help, but redact any Reddit content you do not want to share.
Image or download problems
- The post image is unavailable
- Threadshot shows a safe placeholder and keeps the post text and source. Try reloading Reddit if you need the original image.
- The PNG is too tall
- Select fewer branches. The 28,000px ceiling prevents unreliable output and excessive browser memory use.
- The download did not start
- Check Chrome's download settings, available disk space, and whether endpoint security software blocked a locally generated file.
- The page changed while previewing
- Return to selection mode. Threadshot intentionally clears stale content instead of exporting a mismatched post.
